The city is located in the north of Paris. We can go there by train for 30 minutes. There is a famous racecourse and it takes place the Prix du Jacky Club. We can visit a beautiful castle and the horse museum beside the racecourse. We call the whipped cream “Chantilly” in French because the chef of the castle invented it.

①Chantilly Gouvieux station

★Go to des Otages St in front of the station and turn left at the dead end to join to Marechal Joffre Avenue. Then turn right at the first crossroad to go to Libération Maurice Schumann Boulevard. Turn right at the dead end and go straight. It takes about 30 minutes by walk.

②Chantilly Castle

★Visit the Palace in front of the castle.

③Horse Museum

★Go to Connétable Château St to visit the center city.

④Catholic Church

★Go to Connétable St. When you arrive at a parking, turn right and go through a path mentioned “Bibliothéque”.

⑤Museum of Chantilly Lace

★When you leave from the museum, you are in the street where you have already walked. So, go back to the station with the same route. It takes 15 minutes by walk.

This Renaissance-style castle was built in the 16th century and has a beautiful appearance floating on the lake. Inside the castle grounds is the Condé Museum, which displays the collection of the Duke of Condé, who was the lord of the castle. The paintings that line the walls and the display of his aristocratic residence are spectacular, and you can also feel the history in the library. The garden is large and has many things to see, and it also has a history of being designed to invite Louis XIV.

This palace-like museum is located across from the racecourse, but it is actually a stable built in the 18th century, and 240 horses were kept here at the time. Horses are still bred for racing today, and if you time it right, you can see them being trained. At the museum, you can see how horses are bred using model horses, and during the event period, you can watch a story-like horse show (additional fee: 21€).

④Catholic Church

This classical style church was built in the late 17th century on the orders of the Duke of Condé. It was renovated in 2018, so it is in very good condition, but the colorful stained glass inside is still the same, so you can feel the history. It is especially impressive that the stained glass windows on the left and right behind the altar are divided into red and blue.

⑤Museum of Chantilly Lace

This museum exhibits Chantilly lace, which is characterized by its black color and patterns. The exterior features a combination of blue roofs and red bricks, incorporating the style of Neo-Louis XIII. In addition to Chantilly, the exhibit also includes a wide range of other items, including dresses and fans from Le Puy from Normandy, Paris, and the Auvergne region.
