【City description】

It’s a small town in the south of Strasbourg. It takes about 40 minutes by train. We can find some beautiful woody houses with the pascal color like blue and yellow. In addition, the wine is famous in this region so that we can benefit a good white wine. You should visit the town at the end of the year for the Christmas market.

①Clermont-Ferrand Station

★Go to Charras Avenue as far as Delille Square. Then, go to Port St. It takes 15 minutes by walk.

②Basilica Notre-Dame du Port

★Continue to go to Port St by the end.

★Turn left and go to Philippe Marcombes St.

★Go down Gras St and turn left to go to Etats-Unis Avenue. When you arrive at Jaude Square, continue to go straight and go through a shopping center. Then, turn left at Lagarlaye St. when walk for 10 minutes, you’ll find a park on your right hand. You visit a museum on the left at the crossroad.

★Leave from the museum and turn left. When you cross the road, you’ll find a park.

★Continue to walk on Lagarlaye St and turn left at the branch road to go to Paulines Avenue. Then, turn left to go to Fleury Boulevard when you find a park. When you arrive at the second crossroad, turn right to go to l’Union Soviéique which continues to the station. It takes 20 minutes by walk.

This church is a typical 12th century Romanesque building and is registered as a World Heritage Site as one of the holy sites of pilgrimage. There is a statue of Black Madonna in the underground chapel, and a bronze statue of Christ in the shrine outside.

This is a small park located on a slightly elevated hill, and from here you can see the Puy de Dome, a mountain that can be said to be the symbol of this region. There are public toilets in the adjacent parking lot, so it’s a good place to take a break.

It is the main spot in this town, and has a black exterior just like the city hall. Construction began in the mid-12th century, but was completed in the 19th century. Inside, the walls are black, giving a dark impression, but the candlelight creates a warm atmosphere. You can get a panoramic view of the town from the top of the spire that rises from inside the church.


★Go out from the cathedral and turn left to reach a square.

This is the square next to the cathedral. There are restaurants and a tourist information center, making it a perfect place to take a break. Markets and Christmas markets are held here.

This museum is located next to the park, and consists of exhibits of prehistoric archaeological objects mainly from the Auvergne region, as well as special exhibitions. There are no paintings in the permanent exhibition as the museum mainly consists of excavated items.


★Leave from the museum and turn left. When you cross the road, you’ll find a park.

This park next to the museum has a pond and fountain, and is popular with locals. You can also find monuments shaped like chickens.
