【City description】
It is the capital in France. Because there are so many sightseeing spots, we made 3 tour routes. In this route, we go to Montmartre area at first. Then, we visit the Opera and Marais are. The goal is Bastille. We visit also some shopping arcades “Passages” on the route.

★Go to Steinkerque St as far as Saint Pierre Square. It takes 5 minutes by walk.

④Tertre Square★Go back to Anvers subway station. Take a train and change the line at Pigalle station to go to Montparnasse (line 12). Then, change the line at St-Lazarre station bound for Gallieni.

⑤Havre-Caumartin station★The exit is by the department store Printemps. Go to Haussmann Boulevard.
⑥Galeries Lafayette★Go to Opera House from Galeries Lafayette. The visit entrance is on Scribe St.
⑦Opera Garnier★Go to Opera Square and go to 4 September St. When you arrive at the stairs of a subway station, go to Choiseul St. Then entrance is at the end of the street. It takes 10 minutes by walk.
⑧Choiseul Passage★When you go out from the passage, turn left in Petit Champs St. The next entrance of the passage is between restaurants. It takes 5 minutes by walk.
⑨Vivienne Gallery★Return the street a bit and turn left at the first crossroad.
⑩Royal Palace Garden★When you go out from the garden, turn left in Saint-Honoré St. turn left to go to Valois St and turn right to go to Montesquieu St. The entrance of the next passage is at the end of the street. It takes 10 minutes by walk.
⑪Véro-Dodat Gallery★When you go out from the passage, turn right. Then, turn left at the end to go straight on Saint-Honoré St. When you arrive a Joachim du Bellay Square, go to Berger St. It takes 15 minutes by walk.
⑫Pompidou Center★Go to Saint-Merri St beside Pompidou Center by the end and turn left. You’ll find a pedestrian road on your right hand immediately. It takes 10 minutes.
⑬Rosiers Street★Go ahead the street by the end and turn left. Then, turn right at the first crossroad. It takes 10 minutes by walk.
⑭Vosges Square★Continue to go on Pas de la Mule St beside the square as far as Richard-Lenoir Boulevard and turn right. It takes 5 minutes by walk.
⑮Bastille Square★Take a subway in the square to go to the hotel.

②Funicular

This is a cable car that takes you to the top of Montmartre. Subway tickets can be used as many times as you like within an hour and a half from the first time you board the train, so as long as the time is up, you can save money by using the same ticket you used the first time you got on the train.
③Sacré-Cœur

This is a temple on top of Montmartre hill. Built in 1919, this temple offers panoramic views of Paris. Although there is a fee, you can climb to the top of the dome and see Paris from an even higher point. However, you have to be careful as you have to climb 300 steps, so you will be out of breath when you reach the top.
★Go to the street in front of the Sacré-Cœur for 5 minutes.
④Tertre Square

The square on Montmartre Hill is always crowded with people. This is where the town hall was located when Montmartre was still a village with plenty of fields. The reason it’s so busy is because many artists draw portraits. It’s a good idea to ask for one as a souvenir of your trip, but be careful as some places may charge a high price.
★Go back to Anvers subway station. Take a train and change the line at Pigalle station to go to Montparnasse (line 12). Then, change the line at St-Lazarre station bound for Gallieni.

Get off at this station.

⑥Galeries Lafayette

It is one of the two major department stores in Paris along with Printemps. Galeries Lafayette itself can be found in various cities in France, but this one has a distinctive ceiling. Now you can walk on the glass, so it’s worth a visit even if you don’t want to see the boutique. There is also a souvenir corner on the top floor, so it’s easy to get everything you need here. Outdoor shop windows are a specialty during the Christmas season.
★Go to Opera House from Galeries Lafayette. The visit entrance is on Scribe St.
⑦Opera Garnier

This is a luxurious opera house that looks like a palace. This 19th-century building was built by order of Napoleon III and is the setting for The Phantom of the Opera.” The name comes from architect Charles Garnier. In the theater, you can see Chagall’s work “Bouquet of Dreams” on the ceiling. The grand foyer is decorated with sparkling chandeliers and resembles a palace. Please check the website below as there are many exceptional times when the museum is closed.

The second passage has a pattern on the floor, giving it a bright atmosphere. The entrance is also more flashy than the previous one, so it’s easier to find. It’s fun to walk around and browse the bookstores and cafes.

It is a garden surrounded by a palace in the middle of the city. The surrounding arcade is lined with boutiques and restaurants, and the building itself is not open to tours as it houses the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The palace got its name from the residence of Louis XIV, the Sun King. In the garden, there are places where black and white striped objects are lined up, and you can see modern art.
★When you go out from the garden, turn left in Saint-Honoré St. turn left to go to Valois St and turn right to go to Montesquieu St. The entrance of the next passage is at the end of the street. It takes 10 minutes by walk.

This is the last passage we will visit this time. The floor is chic in black and white, and you can take a look at the atelier where musical instruments and art are made.

It is a multi-purpose facility with an unusual exterior that suddenly appears on the streets of Paris. It was named after a French president who loved art. There are movie theaters and libraries inside, but the highlight is the National Museum of Contemporary Art. You can see many works by famous artists including Picasso. Due to the large number of works in our collection, the exhibits are changed several times a year, so the works you can see differ depending on the time of year. The view from the rooftop is also recommended.

⑬Rosiers Street

This is one of the most famous streets in the Marais, with its 18th century buildings. It is also famous as an area where Jews live, and is a tourist spot with many Jewish restaurants. You can enjoy a different atmosphere even in Paris.
★Go ahead the street by the end and turn left. Then, turn right at the first crossroad. It takes 10 minutes by walk.
⑭Vosges Square

This is a large park located in the Marais district. Surrounded by buildings with red brick walls and blue roofs, it was once used as a social gathering place for aristocrats.

⑮Bastille Square

This is where the storming of the Bastille, which started the French Revolution, took place. In the center of the square is the Column of the July Revolution, topped with a golden statue, and surrounded by the Opéra Bastille, known as the New Opera House, and the Canal Saint-Martin.
