【Start】①Autun Station
★Go to Charles de Gaulle Avenue in front of the station. When you arrive at Champ de Mars Square, go to a building on the right hand.
②Couvert Passage★Go back to the entrance of the passage.
③Tourist Information Center★Go to the street in front of the tourist information center.
④Notre-Dame Church★Go to Saint-Saulge St in front of the church and go to the right street at the forked road. Then, go up Bancs St. It takes 10 minutes.
⑤Rolin Museum★Continue to walk on the street.
⑥Saint-Lazare Cathedral
★You’ll visit romaine ruins as the next destination and you must walk long distance. So, if you are tired, you should visit Janus Temple, the last destination once you go back to the station with the same route.
If you continue the visit, go down Bancs St and turn right to go to Maréchaux St. Then, go straight the street and turn left at the end. Turn right at the first crossroad and go straight. The entrance is a path on the right hand with a small sign. It takes 20 minutes by walk.
★Continue to walk on 2nd Dragon Avenue and turn left at the next crossroad. When you arrive at a roundabout, go to Fusiliers Marins St. It takes 15 minutes by walk.
⑧Saint-André Gate★Go to Gaillon St in front of the gate by the end and turn left at République Avenue. Then, tunr right to go to Paris St. You can find a gate from the crossroad. It takes 15 minutes by walk.
⑨Arroux Gate★Continue to walk on Paris St and pass a bridge. Then, turn left to go to a path although the path isn’t found on the map. It takes 15 minutes by walk.
⑩Temple of Janus★Go to Genetoye Route beside the temple. Pass a bridge and go through train rails. When you arrive at République Avenue, turn left to go back to the station. It takes 20 minutes by walk.

This church faces the square and was once used as a junior high school chapel, and a clock hangs in front as a remnant of that time. Built by the Jesuits, the exterior of this church is made of ocher stone, and the atmosphere of that color is reflected in the interior, and the covered altar gives a sense of holiness.

The mansion built by Nicolas Rolin in the 15th century is now used as a museum. The museum exhibits a wide range of works, from ancient Roman excavations to 20th century paintings. One of the most famous sculptures is “The Temptation of Eve” (photo), which depicts an attempt to turn away from sin while holding the forbidden fruit.

This cathedral is considered to be one of the pilgrimage sites leading from Vezelay to Spain. Every year, 200,000 pilgrims visit this site where the relics of St. Lazare remain. The exterior incorporates Gothic and Romanesque architecture, and a distinctively decorated clock and sculpture of the Last Judgment can be seen at the entrance. There are delicately painted stained glass windows inside, and the decorations in the chapel on both sides are especially splendid.

This is an ancient Roman-style theater built around 15 AD. With a radius of 148 meters and a capacity of 14,000, it is one of the largest in the region. It was used until the 5th century, but after that it remained unused for a long time. In the 20th century, restoration work was carried out for the purpose of using it for events, leading to its current form.

It is a former temple with two 20 meter high stone walls remaining. It was built in the 1st century AD, but was abandoned during the Middle Ages and took on its current form. If you look closely, you can see not only the shape of the windows but also the holes in some places.
★Go to Genetoye Route beside the temple. Pass a bridge and go through train rails. When you arrive at République Avenue, turn left to go back to the station. It takes 20 minutes by walk.
