【Start】
①Avignon Centre Station

★When you go straight in front of the station, you will see the castle wall.

②Rampart of Avignon

★Enter the city between ramparts and go straight on the street.

③Tourist Information Center

★Continue to walk on the street and turn right to go to Frédéric Mistral St. Then, turn left at the end. It takes 5 minutes.

④Angladon Museum

★Go back to République St and continue to walk on the street. It takes 10 minutes.

★Go to Jean Vilar Gps St.

⑥Palace of Papes

★Go to the church next to the palace.

★Go to a park next to the church.

★Go down the stairs from the park and turn left at the river. It takes 10 minutes.

⑨Avignon Bridge

★Continue to walk on the street and turn left to enter the city between ramparts. Then, turn right at the end to go to a pedestrian road. Turn left to go to a small tunnel of Puits de la Reille St and turn right at the first crossroad. Go straight on Balance St. As you return to Horloge Square, go back to the station with the same route. It takes 30 minutes.

Attention, it’s not Avignon TGV station. It’s far from the city.

This is the entrance gate to the city of Avignon. You can see that the entire city is surrounded by a castle wall.

④Angladon Museum

It is the largest Gothic palace in Europe. There are several buildings on the grounds that you can tour, and you can learn about their history through exhibits and videos. On summer nights, you can see a projection mapping spectacle that combines lights and music. Several of Avignon’s attractions, including the Palace of the Popes, are listed as World Heritage Sites.

⑦Notre Dame des Doms Cathedral

The cathedral is located next to the Papal Palace, and has a history of being repeatedly renovated to match the luxury of the Papal Palace. The interior is simple, mainly made of stone, but there is a golden statue of Mary on the roof.

⑧Rock of Doms Park

A slightly elevated park next to the cathedral overlooks the Rhône River and the city.

It is one of the places that symbolize this city. Originally, there was a bridge that spanned all the way to the opposite bank, but due to several river floods, it was cut halfway. You can actually walk on the bridge.


★Continue to walk on the street and turn left to enter the city between ramparts. Then, turn right at the end to go to a pedestrian road. Turn left to go to a small tunnel of Puits de la Reille St and turn right at the first crossroad. Go straight on Balance St. As you return to Horloge Square, go back to the station with the same route. It takes 30 minutes.
