【Start】
①Marseille-Saint-Charles Station

★Take a subway of the line 1 bound for Fourragère. The ticket is 1.70 euros.

②Estrangin Préfecture Station

★Go to Pierre Puget St and turn left to go to André Aune Boulevard when you arrive at a park. It takes 25 minutes by walk.

③Notre-Dame de la Garde Basilic

★Go down Vauvenargues St and turn left at the end. When you arrive at a small square, turn right. Then, turn left to go to Abbaye St. It takes 20 minutes.

④Saint-Victor Abbey

★Return to Corse Avenue and turn right to go to Pasteur Avenue. When you arrive at the end, enter the park. It takes 15 minutes.

⑤Pharo Palace

★When you leave from the park, turn left to go to Charles Livon Boulevard. It takes 15 minutes.

⑥Old Port

★Go along the port. There is a boat station to go to another shore.

⑦Saint-Laurent Church

★Go to the seaside fortress on the church side.

⑧Saint-Jean Fortress

★Pass a bridge from the fortress.

⑨MuCEM- Civil Museum of Europe and Mediterranean

★Go along the sea for 5 minutes.

⑫Vallon of Auffes

★It’s a small port. But it’s far from the city. You should visit there after La Notre-Dame Cathedral. It takes 30 minutes by walk from the cathedral or bus.

⑬Ferry Station

Ferries depart from here for Ife and Les Iles.

Get off the subway here.

★Go to Pierre Puget St and turn left to go to André Aune Boulevard when you arrive at a park. It takes 25 minutes by walk.

This church is perched on top of a hill and offers a panoramic view of Marseille. The exterior and interior of the church are luxurious, and as you would expect from a port town, there are ships suspended inside the church.


★Go down Vauvenargues St and turn left at the end. When you arrive at a small square, turn right. Then, turn left to go to Abbaye St. It takes 20 minutes.


④Saint-Victor Abbey

The church is located on a small hill near the old port and has a nice view. In contrast to the previous cathedral, it has a simple structure with almost no decorations.


★Return to Corse Avenue and turn right to go to Pasteur Avenue. When you arrive at the end, enter the park. It takes 15 minutes.


⑤Pharo Palace

This is a palace located close to the sea. Although you cannot go inside, you can see the old port from the park in front of the palace.

bouillabaisse

Bouillabaisse, which is famous in Japan, is a specialty dish of the Provence region. The bouillabaisse is the soup on the right in the photo, but when I ordered it, it came with even more fish than that. There are many restaurants in Marseille, including those near the Old Port, but be aware that many of the bouillabaisse restaurants require advance reservations. This church is located in the Pannier district of Marseille. The bronze statue of a man and a bear in front of the church is impressive. There is a bridge that takes you to the next Fort Saint-Jean.


★Go to the seaside fortress on the church side.

This museum has a distinctive exterior that looks like the area is covered with seaweed. You can also cross the bridge from Fort Saint-Jean. There are exhibits mainly about European and Mediterranean culture, such as fishing tools.
