Construction of this monastery began in 966, when a certain bishop heard a message from the Archangel Michael in a dream telling him to build a monastery here. Afterwards, as it was repeatedly expanded, it sometimes functioned as a fortress and sometimes was used as a prison. The sea can be seen from the terrace of the monastery, and inside the monastery, in addition to the religious facilities such as the cloister, you can also see the dining room and water pump, giving you a glimpse of what life was like back then. It’s very popular, so we recommend making reservations in advance on this site.
