【City description】
Vaduz is the capital of Liechtenstein, located between Switzerland and Austria. Although it is the capital, it is a small town with a population of about 5,000 people. It was once part of Germany, but is now part of Switzerland and uses the Swiss franc as its currency. Like Switzerland, it is a permanently neutral country with about 100 police officers.

Access
First, take a train from Switzerland to Sargans Station, then take bus No. 11 to Feldkirch or No. 12E to Vaduz from the bus stop in front of the station. The one-way fare is 6 CHF, and the bus ride takes 20 to 30 minutes.

This is a neo-Gothic church built in the late 19th century. It is the only church in the capital, but its size is no different from that of an ordinary church. The spire incorporates Liechtenstein’s symbolic colors of blue and red. The interior has a sacred atmosphere with a white base, and the black borders stretching from the columns to the ceiling are reminiscent of palm trees, like those in the monastery in Toulouse.

This museum allows you to learn about the history of Liechtenstein from prehistoric times. You can see a variety of exhibits, from stone tools to medieval religious paintings and costumes, to modern times. There are also many animal specimens on display.

This museum is located on the second floor of the same building as the Treasure Museum. You can see various stamps from Liechtenstein. The stamp designs vary by era, so it’s fun to look for the design from the year you were born. You can also learn about Liechtenstein’s postal system from various angles, such as the tools used to make stamps.

This is a museum built by a Swiss architect in 2000. It mainly exhibits contemporary art.

⑦Vaduz Castle

This castle was built in the 12th century, and since it is currently the castle where the king lives, you cannot enter inside. On National Foundation Day, August 15th, a ceremony is held in front of the castle, where bread, pretzels, etc. are distributed free of charge to the people, and a concert is held.
