【Start】
★This one-day itinerary includes exploring the city center in the morning and exploring the beach and resort areas in the afternoon. First, head to the city center from your hotel. To get there, call a taxi from your hotel or take a public bus.
【By taxi】
The cost is 1500 – 2000 xpf one way, and payment is generally in cash. There are no taxis on the road, so you need to call one.
【By public bus】
The fare is 500 xpf one way, and you can take the bus on platform 3. Go to the bus stop from your nearest hotel, board at the front, and buy your ticket from the driver, but payment is only in cash. After buying your ticket, touch it to the terminal on the side, and when you let go, when a green check mark appears, sit down.
When you want to get off, press the buzzer to stop the bus and exit from the middle exit. When you get off, there is the same terminal near the exit as when you got on, so touch your ticket before getting off.

This is a morning market that supports the food of the people of Noumea. There is a wide variety of food, including vegetables, meat, and seafood such as the famous shrimp. You will be surprised by the tropical foods and the different-looking vegetables and fruits. The pain au chocolat at the bakery is popular with both tourists and locals. In addition to food, traditional crafts that are perfect for souvenirs are also sold.

③Coconut Square★

This is the town’s largest square in the center of the city and a place of relaxation for locals. As the name of the square suggests, many palm trees are planted here. It is often used as an event venue, and bright red Royal Poinciana flowers bloom here during the summer months of December to February.

This is a museum where you can learn about the history of the development of the city of Noumea. The building was originally the first bank in New Caledonia and its history dates back to 1874. It later became the city hall and then took on its current form. It has two floors, above ground and below ground, and the ground floor houses the folk museum and garden, while the basement displays historical materials from the world wars.

⑥Saint Joseph Cathedral◎

This cathedral was completed in 1897 and combines colonial and neo-Gothic styles. It is smaller in scale than the cathedrals in France, and has the feel of a small local church. On the left side of the building, you can see a place that recreates the scene where the Virgin Mary appeared many times in the French town of Lourdes.

Go down the stairs in front of the cathedral and turn right when you return to the original street ⇒ Turn left at the first intersection ⇒ Turn left at the next intersection ⇒ Turn left when you reach the main road ⇒ Return to the first bus terminal
From here, take bus number 3 (to Ouen-Toro) to the beach area. There are ticket vending machines at the bus terminal so you don’t have to buy a ticket from the driver.

This area is home to many hotels and restaurants. The shopping center in front of the Hilton Hotel has souvenir shops, making it a great place to shop and eat. However, please note that most restaurants are open until 10 pm at the latest and are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

This is a hill in the Anse Vata area. The view is great and you can see the distant islands clearly. It’s nice to bring sandwiches or bread to eat at the top, and it’s also recommended for watching the sunset.

Go down the hill and return to the fork in the road, then turn left. You will see the casino on your right, so enter.

This is a place where you can play a full-scale casino. You can play slots from 11 am, and from 7h15 pm you can play table games and roulette on the upper floor. You must show your passport when entering, and there is a dress code that prohibits tank tops, shorts, and sandals (the same applies if you are only going to the restaurant).

From here you can board the boat to go to Duck Island (pictured above), an island visible from Anse Vata Beach. There is a dock next to the restaurant Le Fun, so you can board from there. There is no timetable, and the boat departs when a certain number of passengers have gathered.
How to get to Master Island
To get to the other island, Master Island (Ilot Maitre), you can take a boat from Moser Port, where there is a morning market. There is a hotel called Doubletree on Maitre Island, so you can make a reservation for the boat at the hotel.
