This is a small town on the banks of the Soâne river. This town was developed as the fortress town in the first century B.C. and then monks from the Norman began to live in this town. So, the abbey is the most famous sightseeing spot. In addition, an ancient hospital is used as a museum at present. As some sightseeing spots is open only between April and October, you should visit the town during this period.

★Turn right from the station to go to Gambetta Avenue. Then, when you find an abbey on the left hand, go ahead there. It takes 5 minutes by walk.
②Tourist Information Center③Saint Philibert Abbey
★Go to Fénelon St and turn left at the end.
④Saint Valérien Church★Go to Alexis Bessard St beside the church and turn right at the first crossroad. Then, turn left to go to Cruche Cassée St and turn right at the end. When you arrive at the end, turn left. It takes 10 minutes by walk.
⑤Ancient Hospital – Greuze Museum★Go to Hôpital St in front of the museum. When you arrive at a square, go to Désiré Mathivet St. When you find a church on the left hand, turn right. It takes 10 minutes by walk.
⑥Sainte-Madeleine Area★Visit the church which you have passed.
⑦Sainte-Madeleine Church★Go to Perlage St on the left of the church. When you arrive at the river, turn left. When you find a bridge, pass the bridge. It takes 10 minutes by walk.
⑧View Point★When you go to Jean Jaurès St from the bridge, you come back to the crossroad where you have already walked. Turn right and return to the station with the same route. It takes 10 minutes by walk.

It is a Benedictine monastery with a distinctive red spire pattern. It was built around the 11th century and houses the relics of Saint Philibert. The interior is white and has a calm atmosphere, but the underground chapel is spacious and you can find mosaics. It also leads to the adjacent corridor.

④Saint Valérien Church

This Romanesque church was built in the 11th century and features dark ocher stone in places. There are no chairs arranged inside, so it is not open to the public unless there is an occasion such as an event.
★Go to Alexis Bessard St beside the church and turn right at the first crossroad. Then, turn left to go to Cruche Cassée St and turn right at the end. When you arrive at the end, turn left. It takes 10 minutes by walk.

This facility was once used as a hospital. Beds for patients are lined up in the large hall, separated into beds for men, women, and soldiers. The decorations such as the chapel and medicine storage are artistic and worth seeing. At the attached Greuze Museum, you can mainly see paintings, and you can also see Greuze’s self-portrait, which is famous in this town and gives the museum its name.

This is a Romanesque church built in the 12th century. The inside of the stone-built church in the old town is white and has a calm atmosphere, unlike the outside. The highlight is the statue of Mary wearing golden clothes. Depending on the day of the week, there is a market in front of the church.

This is a bicycle museum on the outskirts of town. Over 200 bicycles of various shapes are on display. You can also test ride unusually shaped bicycles.
