It’s a village in Beaujolais region which is famous for the wine. It’s registered in one of the most beautiful villages in France. As the people use gold stones for the buildings, you can find a specific landscape. When you visit a tower, you can see the beautiful regional view. You can find over 200 Creches which is the monument shows the scene of the birth of Christ during the Christmas season.

【Start】
①Parking

★Enter the village by a gate. Go to Paul Causeret St and turn right when you arrive at a parking of the city hall. There is a museum in the city hall.

②Tourist Information Center and Mechanical Music Museum

★Go through a path beside the city hall and turn right to visit a tower. It takes 10 minutes.

③Oingt Tower

★Visit a church in the square. To visit, there is an esplanade on the left of the church.

④Oingt Church

★Go to Eglise St and turn left to go to Trayne St. Although you return to the street to go out, go thorough a small tunnel in Paul Causeret St.

⑤Tyre Laine Street

★Leave from the village.

【Start】

①Parking

Access to the village is basically by car. The parking lot is on the right at the end of the fork in the road leading from the main gate of the village.


★Enter the village by a gate. Go to Paul Causeret St and turn right when you arrive at a parking of the city hall. There is a museum in the city hall.

②Tourist Information Center and Mechanical Music Museum◎

Close: weekday, 1/1, 12/25

This museum is located in the same building as the tourist information center. There are many huge musical instruments on display that start playing when you move them manually. The mechanism is the same as a music box, but since various instruments such as organs and cymbals move, you can listen to music with rich tones. You can actually try it out yourself if you ask the staff.


★Go through a path beside the city hall and turn right to visit a tower. It takes 10 minutes.


③Oingt Tower★

Close: when the wind is strong

This 18m high tower was built in 1183. It was once the watchtower of the fortress, but is now used as an observation deck. Inside, materials introducing the history and culture of this village are displayed.

The church, like other buildings in the village, was built using golden stone. It was originally a separate church built in the 9th century, but was moved to this location at the end of the 19th century to create a larger church. The stained glass windows are brightly colored and the two small chapels feature statues of the Virgin Mary. A statue of Mary has also been erected in the grassy area behind the church.
