There is the most characteristic castle in the Loire region in this town. Because each French king extended the castle, many construction types are mixed. Certainly, the façade is very interesting, but the interior decoration is fantastic as well. When we visit the center street, we can find beautiful and local views in the narrow paths.

【Start】①Blois Chambord Station
★Go to Dr Jean Laigret Avenue in front of the station. When you arrive at a curve, go up Voûte Château St. It takes 15 minutes by walk.
②Tourist Information Center★After leaving the tourist information center, go to the castle right next to it.
③Blois Royal Castle★Go down the stairs from the square in front of the castle and turn right. Turn left at the first crossroad. It takes 10 minutes.
④Saint-Nicolas Church★Go up the stairs to return to the castle. Go down the street in front of the tourist information center to enter a park at the corner. It takes 15 minutes.
⑤St-Vincent Church★Go to Porte Côte St to enter the center street. It takes 1 minutes.
⑥Denis Papain Stairs★Continue to walk on the street and turn left at the first crossroad. Go up Pierre de Blois St.
⑦House of Denis Papin★Continue to walk on the street and turn right when you arrive at Saint-Louis Square.
⑧St-Louis Cathedral★Go through a gate beside the cathedral.
⑨Garden of the Bishopric★Go straight on Palais St from St-Louis Square and turn right at the dead end. Go up Porte Chartraine St and turn left to go to Paix St. It takes 20 minutes by walk.
⑩Foundation of Doubt★Go to Franciade St and when you arrive at a church, go to Chambourdin St on the right of the church. Then, go down stairs and turn right. When you arrive at a forked road, go to the left street to go to Jean Moulin St. It takes 20 minutes by walk.

The castle was built around a courtyard, and each building had a completely different appearance because it was built in different eras. Inside is a museum, where you can see the furniture and artwork of Louis XII, Francois I, and others who stayed at the castle.

④Saint-Nicolas Church

This Romanesque church was built in the 12th century and has three distinctive spires. The interior is simple, but the small chapel is impressive with its combination of geometric patterned stained glass and murals.

⑤St-Vincent Church

This church is located in a park that was designated as a historic monument in 1917. Not only the exterior but also the interior is very different from the church in ④. The interior is especially rich in color, with paintings on the walls and ceiling.

⑥Denis Papain Stairs

A long staircase in the center of the city with a flowerbed planted in the center, and depending on the season, the staircase itself is decorated. On the stairs is a statue of Denis Papain, a native of this town who invented the principles of pressure vessels and steam engines.

This is a contemporary art museum that uses everyday objects to express various things. There are countless message panels on the outside walls of the building. The atmosphere is very different from general art museums, and you can feel the unique creativity.
