Region Description
This region, which runs along the Loire River, one of France’s four major rivers, is famous for its many castles. Each region has its own characteristics and many attractions, such as the Château de Chambord, built by François I, and the Château de Chenonceau, which has been ruled by women for generations. There are also many places associated with Joan of Arc, such as the Liberation of Orléans and the audience with Charles VII, and there is also a city where Leonardo da Vinci spent his later years.
